Cyndy and Fred of Shavertown, PA
Our love affair with Newfoundlands began 22 years ago when we were first married. Living in Erie, Pa., we often encountered Newfies and their owners on the shores of Lake Erie. We were enthralled with their beauty and size, but most of all with their kind and gentle demeanor. We dreamt of having one in our lives one day.

In 1994, after the death of our beloved 13 year old Golden Retriever, we began to pursue that dream. That's when Debbie and Marv Thornton and Cypress Bay came in. We spoke with several breeders, but no one seemed as caring and knowledgable as Debbie. We were honored to be put on their waiting list. They were in Newtown, Pa. at the time. Their home and kennel area were impeccable. But most of all their Newfies were lovely. It was obvious they were "family raised" dogs. We were thrilled to bring our dog Chloe home in November 1994.

Debbie and Marv have answered every concern or question we've had about Chloe over the years, from puppy hood to her senior years. Chloe is 9 ½ years old now. Her robust health and vigor is a testament to Cypress Bay's solid breeding standards. We can honestly say of all the dogs we've had in our lives, Chloe is the sweetest, kindest, and most easily trained of them all!

When we told our veterinarian we hope to bring a male Newfoundland into the family, she stated, "I hope you are going back to Chloe's breeder. You know you can't get a better dog than that." Our response was "Absolutely!"
